We purchased this unit back in January 2010 (today is June 30, 2026 and this unit is still going strong. The dryer we were not so fortunate. A broken start button was never able to be replaced as GE couldn't find the correct part. An it did need a wear and tear item (ignitor) replaced. The dryer too is still going strong. I felt I should provide a post on our satisfaction of these units and have not had to call the repair man in a long time.

Had the machines for 12 years the washer went out would love to keep it need a power circuit board to fix it is there any way I can buy that part?? Help I love my washer

It has been some time since my family originally purchased this model washer but I thought now would be a good time to tell of our long term relationship with it. This unit came out around 2009. As with many models it had only a couple areas here and there that were quickly ironed out within a year of ownership. The big issue was with the whole unit shaking a lot when spinning to wring out water. After a few calls to Best Buy and GE we were told it needed a software update. This update was to keep the basket from making a hole in the top lid...apparently a balance sense issue. Ever since the technician came over to install the software update this unit has been good to us.
The only things we need to do every once in a while maintenance-wise is to clean the soap dispenser under hot water, clean the hair and lint by pulling back the rubber seal and also using the clean cycle with bleach as recommended in the owners manual. We also just had to replace the hot and cold hoses after 7 years. A big thing to check is the trap located behind the lower front access panel. You unscrew a large white nut and you can get trapped junk out from this filter area. Also we had to have the external tanks flushed with hot water and the softener hoses stripped a few times as the fabric softener hardens up in the lines if not used. Overall checking these areas and cleaning the soap dispenser and this unit had been good to us. I would say that cleaning out the external tanks and flushing the fabric softener lines is the most technical repair this unit has ever experienced. The next time we get another washer and dryer I will definitely be checking these areas for reliability and ease of access.
