Good news is I was able to repair minor problems over the years when problems would arise. The machine worked as expected. Bad news is, due to manufacturer design when a less than $20 part goes out (rear bearing), you don't have the option but to only buy a $400 (rear tub) assembly with that less than $20 part in it. And that is for the part only. Labor to replace would probably be $200 or more. Not worth the original price tag. I'm going back to a much less expensive top loader for less than the cost of my repair. GE manufactured a throw away machine due to poor design. I doubt that was unintentional.

I've had this washer for nearly 12 years no issues. Bought new in late 2006. Clothes do come out wet at times due to me overloading it. The power button wears over over time. We started having issues with the start button after 5 years. We are taking this washer to our new house as a spare laundry room in the garage.

To say the GE has lost both its trusted name as well as its commitment to quality would be an understatement. From the start, the machine didn't clean well, had mold and mildew smell in the unit that transferred to clothes. I spent as much time cleaning and sanitizing this unit as I did washing clothes. Additionally, the unit was designed so that the weakest part of its construction (the "spider") that supported the drum unit could not be repaired/replaced without buying the whole drum unit. The estimated cost of that would have been over $500 in parts alone BEFORE labor. That's call planned obsolescence in the manufacturing world. I have attempted to post a critical review 3 times previously without success because they didn't like it. This time I am being more direct.

The balancing weight broke loose and destroyed the washer. This washer always had problems balancing. Always!

After the first couple of years this washer has been serviced several times and so many parts have been replaced that I have lost count. Also vibrates the whole house when it spins up and down in our second floor laundry. Lately the buttons on the front panel do not work consistently and have to keep pressing to get the selection I want.

I bought this machine over ten years ago. The tumbler cracked and now I need to replace it. The repairman said they were still being manufactured, but that is not the case. Disappointed that it broke down so soon, as I am gentle handling my equipment. I guess they don't make them like they used to.

My mom purchased this and has had NOTHING BUT HORRIBLE ISSUES SINCE YEAR ONE! Don't bother buying! Too many to go in to! So frustrating and disheartening! Locks & can't unlock, won't start, clothes stink/smell, & more!
