Rusted where the detergent goes

The holes for the detergent, fabric softener, etc have rusted and continue putting rust in each cycle I run. I have also had problems with the start/pause button and unplugging the washer for a reset does not solve the problem.

This is the worst washer I™™ve ever owned. It does not get the clothes clean. Wash cycle is so freaking long it™™s ridiculous. Sounds like a plane taking off when the spin cycle starts. My husband says it™™s so fast it spins the dirt out instead of cleaning them. I can't find the parts to fix it on the website. The agitator is plastic and has ground down flat. It eats our cloths or tears them. Wish I could Put a tall agitator in. Wishing that would help. The only good thing is it holds more cloths than my old washer.

This washer has been such a disappointment. We started having problems as soon as the warranty period was over. Not little problems: first the lid started slamming down, then a leak, then another leak and a grinding transmission with oil coming out. We have to replace the unit immediately as it cannot be repaired. I'm completely disappointed in this appliance.

Never will I ever buy another GE washer. This model bucks, violently vibrates, EATS MY CLOTHES, and is very inefficient at cleaning and rinsing. I have to do a double rinse on all loads!

Sheets stuck under agitator plate

We purchased this washer about 7 years ago and have had a great experience. Unfortunately today the agitator plate decided to ™eat a set of sheets™. I was able to pull a food portion out however they are starting to rip and I don™™t want to rip them out knowing that a portion of the sheet will remain under the agitator. Is there a way to remove the top plate to gain access to make sure all the sheets that are stuck are removed?

We purchased this washer and accompanying gas dryer in 2012 and have been having to run an extra rinse cycle under (quick rinse) after each full load. In an effort to conserve water, this machine barely uses any water thus not really "cleaning or washing" the loads. I've contacted GE several times when the machine was newer but have been told that there's nothing that can be done since this is how the machine was built. I've managed to continue to run 2 cycles per load (wash, then the quick rinse) cycle which doubles the time, energy and water that a normal machine would take and after doing 7 loads of laundry this weekend (14 loads since the extra rinse cycle is necessary) I finally decided to register with GE to share my thoughts on this machine. What a wasted purchase this has been now that we're getting ready to buy a replacement which will definitely NOT be GE.

This was a total waste of money. Done with GE products. Why would a company release a piece of garbage like this is beyond me. Clothing never clean have to rewash more times than someone should have to.

I have had this washer for several years now. The past year, it has been leaving white residue all over my dark clothing. I called the GE repair number to see if i could get support and they don™™t offer any support per the customer support rep. Super disappointed and wouldn™™t recommend this product.

We bought our washer which cost $900 and just 5 years later it™™s broken. I was told to buy a top load, by the salesman, instead front load because they™™re more reliable and cheaper to fix. Fast forward 5 years and it™™s over $500 to fix and it™™s not worth fixing. It needs a new control panel. Now I™™m just bit a cheaper one and if it breaks in 5 years, oh well.

Bought this washer in 2015. Not even 4 years and having repair man out tomorrow. Had GE fridge guy here 3 weeks ago to fix bad motor (still awaiting parts- bought same time as washer) and he took quick look at washer. Said it was agitator gear box issue. Guess I™™ll know more tomorrow. Then Dec 3 when fridge guy comes for that. I have a GE dryer, microwave and dishwasher as well. Will never buy GE again.

Since I bought this washer it has never cleaned clothes properly. It seems to be getting worse. Believe problem has been lack of water. Also appliance recommended Downey. Only clogs up and continually needs cleaning. Had to switch to Method fabric softener.

I included GE Appliances when I purchased my new home in 2014. In less than 3 years of use, the metal around the detergent dispenser is rusting and causing stains on clothing. The metal edges and tabs at this location are in a wet environment, and not sufficiently coated with enamel, are prone to rusting. I am not able to repair myself due to the complex removal process of the metal top. I called GE for repair, the service agent called back and said the repair with parts would likely exceed $500 due to the complexity of disassembly and needing 2 people for most of a day. Why would I repair a washer that is rusting and also makes grinding noises. I will take the $500 in repair costs and purchase a new washer.

Cost of fixing is more than washer itself. Would not recommend! Grinding sound, spinning stopped,washing/agitating stopped. Computer and motor malfunction. Glad I bought the extended warranty. During the 3 years I had to have the door fixed, since the hinge broke and glass top could of shattered, clothes always got black streaks on it...not the best washer

Maybe I'm old school but I think a washer should last more than 2 years. We bought this less than 2 years ago and has worked ok. But now it has a bad grinding sound coming out from under. I did not buy the warranty because I trusted GE to build quality. I guess that's my fault

I did not choose this machine but it was a brand new and put into our house when we purchased it. At first it appeared to be a good product. This product has had to be repaired twice in less than a year. The "fill sense" keeps appearing and the "board" is bad. Shipping takes 7-10 days. I have spent or will be spending as much to fix this product as a new one would cost. Sorry, just not impressed with this product.

I have always had ge products and this is by far the worst ,I hate this wash machine it doesn't clean properly go off balance regularly ,I am glad to see they no longer make it. I am sure a man design this model . I have a lot more to say about this wash machine but not enough room to write. And I have given it a fair chance I have had it for about 2 very long years now.
