I was looking for a clothes washer with an agitator as it seems the past few years they are doing away with them. Saw this one, it was a GE and felt very confident in it. I have been VERY disappointed in this machine. I can't control the water level as high as I would like sometimes. If I use the "heavy duty" cycle the machine ALWAYS shuts off by itself after the wash load (just after it drains)..... and I mean totally off, sometimes I need this cycle but it can't be used. The machine has done this ever since I purchased it. Should have returned it.

I have had this washer for a few months and it does a great job. I like the fact that I can decide how much to fill it with water. I also like the fact that I can opt out of HE cycle. Also, the price is decent.

SS tub, loads of wash options. Cleans like a champ. Easy to spin wet swim suits when we come in. Only thing the tub's deep and short people might have trouble getting items from bottom of drum. Otherwise, top notch. Should keep making this model

We bought this about 6 months ago and wanted to wait a while to do a review. Some people post a review after 1 day of ownership and say everything is wonderful - what a worthless review! We chose this agitator-type washer because we heard H.E. (High Efficiency) washers did not clean well - but as it turns out this is an H.E. washer anyway (although that wasn't clear in the advertisements). So it does not clean the clothes nearly as well as our previous 28-year-old agitator-type washer. The first thing we noticed was that softener does not seem to do anything in this machine (we still got rough towels, no nice scent). Then after two weeks of use (two wash days, about 20 loads), the water intake valve cracked and leaked water all over the floor. Since it was replaced the problem has not re-occurred, but since the new part looks just as thin and cheaply made as the original we don't have a lot of confidence that it won't break again the future. The normal running of the machine is very loud and does a lot of loud banging when the hot and cold water valves turn on and off. The spin cycle is so loud that when my husband heard it from upstairs, he looked out the window to see if a helicopter was hovering over the house. I told him it was the washing machine downstairs! This new machine is also very slow - the wash cycles on this machine average an hour each, vs. our old machine where the wash cycles were 30 minutes or 45 minutes (depending on what cycle we ran). I don't know how this machine compares to other H.E. washers in quality of washing. If your old washer is still working, don't get rid of it just to get a "newer", "nicer" machine!

This washer has way too many options and the pre-programmed selections don't always make sense. Six different water temperatures and five spin options seems a bit overkill. Yes, you can change some of the options for a given program but try explaining that to the housecleaning crew. We would have been happier with a more basic model but there are none under 26 inches deep with a stainless steel tub.

Our old washer and dryer sputtered out within two days of each other. After 17 years... I'd say we got my money's worth out of them. A friend recommended the GE set that she recently purchased. My wife & I shopped for a set like hers. We liked the features and the price. So far, we are very pleased with our purchase.

I had white towels that had become dingy looking. I washed them in the very first load that I did with my new GE washing machine. I set the load for towels/sheets and used my regular detergent. The towels came out white again. I am very pleased with the performance of this machine.

- This washer may be a crossover of the standard agitator and new high efficiency versions. A lot of the settings/features mimic the new HE washers.
- Like that I can use both old standard detergents and HE ones including PODS.
- Like the auto-sensing for water level.
- Much quieter than my previous 17 yr. old GE Profile washer. Hope this one last.
- Stainless steel tub and size is great. Can wash lingerie items/comforter/jeans.
- Cleans just fine at all settings provided. Twenty different cleaning cycles. Don't forget to turn on 'Softener' feature during set up or clothes will have Downy on them
- Would recommend GE Washers: My 'GTWN5650FWS' is a discontinued model
- Loud water hammer effect during Fill & Rinse cycles. Manual says there will be a clicking sound as washer fill however mine is quite loud. Don't know if the sound is related to plumbing in my house.
- Price: $400.00. Black Friday Special @ local discounted Appliance Store Worth it for this amount. Purchased extended warranty incase issues with electronic control panel due to a power failure or craftsmanship.

We have had it now fo a few months and do a lot of laundry so I can give a very good review on this product it has saved us a lot on our water bill because it has a auto fill and determined how much water it takes to clean your load and the clothes come very clean we are so glad we bought this washer.

I made my purchase several months ago at a local appliance house, before shopping I reviewed consumer reports and found this GE product to be highly rated. This washer has features which allow for a mix of variable washing needs there is even features for energy and water savings which you can turn on or off as you those. I give this washer 5 stars.

She reviewed it very carefully and it had all the 'bells and whistles' that were important to her before ordering. Aside from a bent support bracket on delivery (easily corrected) it has worked flawlessly and pretty quietly. She is quiet pleased!

This top load washer is fine for people who do not have really soiled clothing. It is easy to operate with a deep drum and fills and completes the cycle quickly. the agitation of the drum is not as powerful as my old GE. The spin cycle is rather loud, but I still think this is a good washer.

I have had this washer nearly 3 months and I love it. I wasn't so sure about the agitator but it actually cleans the clothes better because it helps move them around. Very easy to use washer with plenty of features. I can wash anything from delicates to big heavy quilts. I love the e wash button knows how much water to put in by weight of the load takes the guess work out. Very big washer tub. Also don't need a lot of detergent and overall not that noisy. If you had a closet or laundry room with doors would hardly notice it when running. great washer can't go wrong with it.

When our old washer showed signs of malaise, I was dreading the need to buy a new one that would have a mind of its own and always lock the lid! I am capable of controlling laundry load decisions, and am not tempted to put my arm in a running machine!
I digress, after a lot of research, it seems that GE still trusts customers, and makes washers that allow owners to regulate water levels and add errant socks to an already started load!
The washer cleans well, is not overly loud, spins clothes thoroughly so they dry faster, and generally seems the perfect machine for us! Thank you GE!
