It was always loud. It never washed clothing very well and left spots from detergent no matter how much was in a load. Even with small loads parts of clothing would never get wet because water level was too low. Eventually found a detergent that didn't leave spots but never felt like the clothes were clean. Inherited when moving into house and suffered for 8 years of frustration.

first it was loud, , second you can not wash a twin comforter or blankets.
5 years old had to replace the drain hose, and it is loud and has scratched our floor up from moving when spinning. shame on ge for making this model and not doing better testing. we all need a refund or a voucher to get another for a discount
last is does not clean properly if you have kids or get dirty this is not your machine....

I had this washer for about 5 years. I heard a large pop and smelled smoke, called the home warranty, and it is not worth fixing. (MOTOR needs to be replaced)
I like the machine for the time I had it, surprised it broke so quickly.

I've had this washer almost 3 years now and it is the worst I've ever owned. The low water wash is an absolute joke. Need to wash a twin comforter? Forget it, not enough water AND you'll have to agitate it yourself because that washer isnt strong enough to rotate it even a little. Plan on washing 3 regular sized towels and maybe 4 tshirts and some socks. That's pushing it. If you've got a family, get a bigger washer. If you're single, you'll be ok but will be taking your bedding to a laundromat to wash properly. The computer noise it makes when it's in wash mode (standard noise, no, it's not broken) can be heard 50 feet away in another room even with a tv on. If I could upload the sound, I would. It *might* be tolerable if your laundry room has a door to close so as to muffle the noise. I cannot wait to upgrade to something else, we're stuck with it for now.

We™™ve had this washing machine about 8 years. For the past 2 years it has given us problems. It finally stopped working last week. Had a repairman out to check and he said it wasn™™t worth fixing and he wasn™™t willing to repair it. Now I have to purchase a new washer and it won™™t be GE!

This washer worked fine for about 6 years and then noises, leaking (ruined ceiling below it)and , now I'm rebuilding it, against the advice of competent repair folks, one of whom said he wouldn't fix it for me..... PERIOD!!
If my late wife hadn't picked this washer, it would already have been recycled, but I'm sentimental, so it will live to cause more damage in the future!
I know it has been discontinued for years, but I know some folks buy "used" appliances, so here's my advice...... don't buy this, or any other machine if competent repair people won't fix it at any price!!

Worst washer we ever had. Very LOUD, plus would never clean clothes well.. left scum and or lint on clothes.. Finally it appears the belt may of quit.. as it does not spin.. this is only 5 years perhaps, I would have to go find receipt, I see a new GE out that has some decent ratings, but the CON is to loud as well.. so we will stay away from GE washers,

Doesn™™t get clothes clean! Why? Not enough action when agitating, not enough water, NO hot water. The only way to wash in hot water is to turn cold input off until filled. Why not make a product like the older washing maxhines? Make a machine that actually washes clothes vigorously. This one is a light swish, swish, swish sound! What an aggravation!

I don't usually do reviews but I feel that I need to warn folks about this washing machine. I have hated this thing from day 1! I have read and reread the manuals, online troubleshooting links and watched tutorials thinking there must be something wrong with this thing. First, I know how to properly load this washer (without overfilling or stuffing or wringing things around the mini agitator) and laundry still came with dry spots on the clothes. If parts of the clothing are still DRY how are they actually getting cleaned? They're not! I also know to use the recommended amount of high quality he detergent and have used both the extra rinse cycle and the fabric softener option. These options do get the clothes slightly more wet with less dry spots but clothes are still covered in a nasty residue and look dirty. I got what I thought was a great deal on this washer so I had to make it work. My solution- add a bucket or two of water to it and use my arm to really mix it and agitate the clothes before starting the heavy wash cycle. The agitator never seemed to do much. I will say it was quiet with just a quiet zipper noise until now......fast forward a few years. I think it's three years old? The washer first started leaking, then squealing, and now the whole tub is spinning fast and furious while the agitator also moves. Wow! Noisy, leaky mess but certainly seems like this would be the first time the clothes actually got washed! Everything I have read points to transmission/brake problem that is apparently a common problem with ge machines. I'd love to give ge another chance but I can't afford to buy new washing machines every 2-3 years!

I purchased this washer 2 years. ago and have never been able to figure out how my clothes come out more dirty than they went it. There is usually film, and linty residue left on them. I have to spot wash them every time I take them out of the washer before I can dry them. It's an awful waste of time and I am thoroughly disappointed in its performance. I won't make this mistake ever again!!

I seem to have this issue with this washing machine. I wash my clothing and it comes out dirtier than when I put them in. To the point I have to throw them in the trash. This is a waste of money. How can one buy a machine to clean clothing and it becomes very dirty. My clothes look like I was working on a car for hours and I do not work on cars.

I never write a review but I'm looking for a new MACHINE BECAUSE I HATE THIS WASHER!! Never enough water , I just leave it on max load an it still isn't enough water. Sometimes my clothes are have wet half dry. I wouldn't recommend to my worst enemy... nah definitely my enemies

I've had this washer three years and my neighbor has the exact same one. We agree...this does NOT get clothes clean. It uses so little water, sometimes you get the clothes out and it parts are completely dry...unless you put a very small number of clothes in it. It also twists your clothes up into tight braids where the inside is still dirty. My neighbor said she runs every load through twice to get her little girls clothes clean. I'm looking for a new washer. I give up!

We bought this about 3/4 years ago and I regret it. Loosly packed, small, medium, hot water, cold, warm, no matter which cycle - my clothes never seem clean. They have lines of caked up lint and what looks like streaks of dirt that filled the crevises and creases because there isn't enough water to rinse the dirty water from the clothes and the drum. I am not at all pleased. Now there seems to be something wrong with the fabric softner dispenser - holding on to the fabric softner (yes it is high efficiency). We tried removing the so called self cleaning dispenser and replacing it but we have to do that too many times. I spent too much for the machine to get rid of it - It doesn't save us any money in utility bills because I have to run the same load twice, sometimes three times to get that dirty linty debris stuff off the clothes. I see why GE no longer manufactures this thing.
