After 11 years of great performance, the motor went out. I was so disappointed that GE no longer makes this model. The quiet agitator was one of the best features of this washer. I chose this machine for its smaller capacity, the hand wash cycle, basic controls and the price was right. The capacity of the drum was perfect for a two person household. I liked the choice of the water auto sense or controlling the water level myself. Clothes always clean. Never any mildew odors. I purchased a new GE washer. New washers no longer have a quiet agitator or a hand wash cycle. Hope GE will make this model again.

The worst washing machine I have ever used! The agitator ruins clothes! Items get caught under the lip of the agitator at the bottom of the drum and get stretched out and tangled with other items of clothes. Very poor design!

I wish I could give this washing machine zero stars. From day one, it was noisy, unbalanced, and constantly stopped mid-cycle for no reason. Clothes came out still soaking wet no matter what setting I used. The ™high-efficiency™ feature? More like ™high-frustration.™
Customer service was just as useless™"long hold times and no resolution. I™™ve had this machine for less than 2 years and it already needs repairs for the third time. For the price I paid, I expected reliability, not daily headaches. Avoid this model at all costs.

My first and LAST GE washer! The washer I bought 35 years ago was a Kenmore. It finally started having issues and the local appliance guys (just a coincidence they sell new washers) said it was uneconomical to repair. I had had good luck with a stove I bought from them and just recently bought a fridge so I bought a GE. Big mistake! Electronic and it needs to be rebooted about once a month, else it will start a load and then just quit at some point during the wash or rinse and leave clothes and water in the machine. My question is them, if I call the local store that sold me this washer will this new machine be uneconomical to repair also?

I love this washing machine.I have had to replace one part which was the pump on the spin cycle. The top where the bleach goes in is completely rusted through, and I can't find a part to replace the whole lid . I hate this because it's a big deal to have to take my washing machine out and remove it.

So I thought I™™d write this review even though my GE washer is 12 years old. This clothes washer lasted 12 years, I think, without a service call until last week. The machine suddenly went off balance while washing bed linens. A service repair tech came out this morning and determined the counter balance weight broke off the outer tub and the shocks are worn. The conclusion is the machine is not economical to repair. The machine was a really good washer. It had a good run! Now to look for a new one. Unfortunately, most appliances are not made to last more than 8-10 years.

Just want to say how happy we have been with this washing machine. We bought it new and have been very, very satisfied with its performance over the years!!! Love all the manual adjustment features and options. We have a GE dryer as well and have been very happy with it, as well! A quality washing machine.

Rust spots all over clothing, kept getting worse. Started to chip paint in big chunk and was all rusted under paint. Started to rust around bleach dispenser so I got appliance paint and painted over it all. Needless to say it's all rusted in the inside of washer. Warranty only covers motor! What a piece of crap. The towel cycle hasn't worked, shuts if soon as water starts to dispense. Very upset that I wasted all that money. Never purchase a GE appliance again.

This is the worst washer I've ever owned. Extremely loud, spin cycle went out on the 'speed wash' cycle after three years then it went out on the 'Whites' cycle, then was on slow spin for every cycle. It worked right for three years. Useless!

After having this washer for a short amount of time. It has already shown many signs of wear and tear. The inside has rusted and pieces of it has been mixed in with our laundry. The quality of cleanliness is sub par to other washers we had. It has also stopped draining properly and stopping mid cycle which causes constant restarting and sour clothing. Overall I am very disappointed in this washer and it has caused my family many inconveniences.

Great washer for 6 yrs, but now transmission failing. Bought at great clearance price and now very disappointed. Repairman today said transmission replacement not feasible, cost $919. Quiet machine, very large capacity, helpful features. Very disappointed now.

This washer came highly recommended and fit the small space I had to put a washer in. It has been nothing but a piece of junk since I purchased it. It is 5 years old and I have had to have service come out every year since I purchased it- sometimes 2 times a year. I will never purchase a GE washer again. I am not shocked that this is no longer manufactured.

We have only had it a few years. I have to reset the motor at least once a month. Now the thing sounds like a freight train when it spins. The sound levels are much higher than my lawn mower or leaf blower. I checked what it would cost to fix it - $350 and it would take all day. No thanks! We are going to replace it this evening with anything but a GE piece of junk.

I have owned this washer for 5 years and its going to the curb already. It rusted out around the bleach cup and screws snapped off on the drum and the ultimate is the motor blew. This was with below normal use. I always respected GEs products, American made, ect , now never again . Very disappointed.

I always use the load size super and it does not fill to the top of the spiral agitator, it stops halfway. It does clean clothes pretty good but not so much with comforters however it does the job and it spins really great but I am disappointed that I have to use a bucket to add more water to do a full load.

Where can I find the electrical diagrams for this washer plus how do I cross reference the Drawing Numbers to Part Numbers? It would be helpful if all this would be included in a repair manual. GE does not always want the layman to be able to do some of the repairs or know where the parts are located in the equipment. Help would be greatful in this area.

Ive had the repair man come 3 times. The machine will not drain and leaves soapsuds. since it doesn't drain, you have to wait a full day in between washes. It works when it wants. Sometimes it will make a crank noise when its spins if you don't let it rest in between washes calling a repairman is money down the drain. I specifically bough a cheap machine because all the smart machines breakdown faster. Little did I know that a Smart machine would be better than this. And don't get me started on the dryer. Had that repaired too.

Maybe this washer came into existence at the beginning of the energy efficiency era. It may explain why it fails to clean any clothing. You cannot wash more than 5 T-shirts at a time. You just can™™t. It doesn™™t fill with enough water at all to clean anything more, regardless of the volume setting. Good luck with sheets. And I argue that it is no longer efficient by the time you are done washing 10 small loads instead of 2-3 big loads. I will buy a different brand when it is time to buy a new washer, which is really disappointing because GE was always my go to. On a positive note, it is quiet, so there™™s that.

Motor Inverter board should be a separate item to purchase instead of bundling motor and board. There is noting wrong with motor and failure to motor inverter board was root cause. It was arcing at the outer heatsink transistor to motor chassis. I'm sure inverter motor control board did not cost 202.00 or more!!! not including service tech costs.

Basically a 4 year old anchor. Every 3rd or 4th wash the spin function takes a vacation. No spin.
Sometimes I can get it to work by cycling the power button off and on, but then sometimes I have to unplug it and that works.
Cheap junk made overseas with rotten engineering.

The machine washes great but I have had it only 4 years and the bearings have gone out for the second time yesterday. It sounds like a freight train on the spin cycle for a few days and then completely stops. I had the bearings replaced in 2/17 and they are out again. I can't keep paying the repair bills for bearings replacement. I believe this machine is a LEMON.

5 years with the motor dying. Initially, it was always loud, and I could not change water levels mid filling. Sometimes when I tried, the machine would empty out. Wish I had read the reviews I just found on youtube that said to stay away. Shame on you, GE.

2015:worked just fine 11-16 months, then tub would only fill 1/4 the way,some times a 3/4 tub, rare, thinking it was me I tried every thing with patients no success, 2018 had tech come out,#1 replaced three things still not fixed,#2 comes out said #1 tech did what I would have done, #3 GE tech comes out said water doesn't fill 3/4 of the tub, but I think HUM then why are there all the levels on the face of the washer, now he's trying to figure out the grinding sound at the bottom of washer, couple more issues but you get the idea RESERSH BEFORE BUYING, I HOPE THEY MAKE IT RIGHT, I use to be a GE customer 43 YEARS it scares me now. We he the washer for a year it was fine. Then the seal went, we bought an extended warranty from the sales place, they fixed it. Now 3 years it was leaking again, only 1 wash type is working. Still under extended warranty, the guys have been out 4 times to fix it and it's still not right. They've changed the control sensor, the tub, the seal, the door lock sensor. Now it's running 1 time okay next time it wont finish the cycle to spin, the rinse light is on and it's not doing anything. I tried unplugging and restarting and it won't go forward, even after unplugging for a day, plugged it back in light is still at rinse. I'm angry at the washer, I'm really angry at the store with the warranty, because it's been 6 weeks that they have unsuccessfully "fixed it". Manny's appliances Wilbraham, MA. My last washer lasted 16 years and 3 moves. No wonder our landfills are overfull!

We bought this to be able to set our own wash water levels and it has worked beautifully. We were able to do all sizes of clothing/bedding except for maybe king-size comforters - that was pushing the capacity a bit.
But after only 6 years the main center bushing died and repair wasn't economically feasible. My previous Kenmore lasted 10+ years. So, I am extremely disappointed in the GE service life.

We bought this washing machine 2 years ago on the recommendation of my sister when my Whirlpool stopped working, and I wish I had bought something else. This machine is too small for my family of 4 and DOES NOT put in enough water to thoroughly wash the clothes. I ALWAYS have to add water to large loads or make smaller loads so I'm not saving money on water or electricity.

Even though this washer is no longer manufactured if you should come across one I advise you to buy it. This is the 2nd one I've had in my life (first belongs to my brother). This washer is awesome! I've never had any trouble with this machine and the only thing I would change is the agitator. My next washer will definitely be a GE Washer with no agitator.

WOW!!! LOL!!! After reading the many 1 star reviews I have been extremely lucky to have owned this piece of junk for 5 1/2 yrs, I should not complain!! I gave it 2 stars because I got so much decent use out of it. I am writing to state I completely agree w/all the 1 star reviews of water level, not being able to change selection, machine filling & emptying etc, etc. All this time my husband blamed me for using the machine wrong!? Nice to know it's not me, lol. My problem now is, we think we have to replace the water inlet valve & after reading these reviews not sure if we should waste the measly $50 to DIY, it might make the machine collapse. At least we also know not to but another GE. Thanks.

I purchased this machine 3 years ago and have regretted it ever since!! I purchased it because of the large capacity...but I can only fill the basket half full because on the largest setting (I don't use the auto sensor feature), with the basket filled half way up with laundry, the water is also at the halfway mark in the basket! And rinse? Not! My hoodies and towels smell like they have sat, wet, in the washer for days!! THIS MACHINE DOES NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO CLEANING!! I wish I would have never purchased it.

This washer only lasted 2 1/2 years! Had to have the repair man fix the tub and the bearing twice within the first year and a half. Now as of last night the motor, tub bearing, thermistor, and lid switch are done. I will never buy a ge product of any sort. I definitely regret buying it!

We bought this washer August 02, 2015, and it is falling apart. It has always been very noisy especially in the spin cycle. My husband has replaced a rubber seal and that did not fix the leak. He is now going to try replacing the seal again and put sealant around it to see if that will stop the leaking. GE is there anything you suggest for fixing this model? Do you warrant any of the parts? Please advise! Very disappointed if we have to purchase another washer so soon!!

This model was terrible and I now see you are no longer making it. Maybe in the future you could consider not doing the following items. The washer would never fill even 1/2 way to purchasing a large washer was a waste. For a large family it was useless to purchase this then have to use a laundromat. It washed for an hour at a time and was loud which the repair man (yes a repair man after a few months) said would only get louder as time went by. I will not purchase a GE product after owning this machine.

Horrible washer! If you switch cycle will drain all the water out. Sounds like a plane taking off. Design engineers probably never had to wash clothes. Had very limited choices due to space constraints.
