this is the worst washing machine I could have picked. even with a small load it goes off balance. it then proceeds to fill with water to try to balance itself. my water bill is out of control! I spent a lot of money on this machine that is now going to the scrap yard because I won't even give it away because I don't want to frustrate anyone with this piece of junk! head the warnings from other reviews do not buy this machine

This washer has given us nothing but horrible washes since we had it. Almost every time a bunch of lint, undesolved detergent, and other soil is sticking in the clothing after washing. This is after regular basket cleaning, extra rinse, extra washes, separation techniques are used. For a washer that™™s supposed to be maintenance free, I am lost how this appliance can™™t perform the most important function for a washer: cleaning the clothing properly!

We wanted a good washer and dryer for our new built house 3 years ago and trusted the appliance store to know more than we did about washer and dryers. I'm sad to report, the GE 5.1 CF Smart Dispense Technology has never cleaned my clothes, sheets, and towels liked the sales person said they would. The smart dispenser has never worked and the sheets ALWAYS have large dry spots that never get wet during the cycle... meaning the entire sheet never got washed. The dryer works well but it's packed with lint on the bottom below the lint filter that you can not reach. I even had a GE service man try to get the lint out but he couldn't. I'm very surprised that both products are not GE quality... especially since we paid top dollar at a reputable appliance store in our city.

We had a front load version of this at an old house and loved the dispenser. However, it hasn™™t worked as well in the top load. The machine literally tore itself apart in less than a year, and all internal parts had to be replaced. In addition, we™™ve had the dispenser go down a few times. Finally, and most recently, it started flooding. After 3 repair calls, a $450 service call (fortunately under extended warranty), because a tiny little sliver of plastic clogged up a dispenser tube. Even though it is still under warranty, we™™re considering replacing because we are just so over the problems. We™™re friends with the people who bought our old house (and whom we left the front load version with). It is still going strong.

After much research and owning GE Profile appliances at our previous home, we went with this model. Not a good choice. Just three weeks after owning it, we had to have the control panel replaced. Two years later we need it replaced again. While the part was covered, I was still required to pay for the labor and the service call. At a minimum, the labor should have been paid for on a part that was faulty AND has a 5 year Warranty on it. Will NOT buy GE again.

We bought this with our new home. It always made a ticking noise on the spin cycle. Each time a work order was put in the response was great but no one knows what the problem is. Now 2 years later, the spin cycle doesn't work at all. It is such an inconvenience to own a washing machine that was expensive and doesn't work. Don't waist your money.

I have had this machine for the past four years and I™™m finally getting rid of it for a different set. I have had nothing but problems from the start. Within the first few months of using it until now. I have had a ™GE certified™ repair man out several times. They could never figure it out. For the past year I have been washing everything twice. This to me is ridiculous and definitely more time consuming and not high efficiency in the long run! There is a soap residue on almost all of our clothes, especially my dress clothes for work. This is high efficiency, but there™™s not enough water in the washer to be effective. automatic soap dispensers are junk, they clog up and become ineffective quickly. My guess is the positive reviews are from people who™™ve just recently purchased their machine. Buyer beware, look elsewhere and do not buy this!

I got this thinking it was going to be great and very efficient. It never takes the time it says it takes, it always takes longer. Just after the warranty ran out, it stopped working completely. Now I can't get the parts to fix it they are on back order until May. What kind of product is this??? It broke in February and I still can't fix it. We are going into March.

Too small amount of water in a cycle

This was purchased a year and a half ago. This is a replacement of a new GE washer that was leaking the day we got it. Imagine yourself doing 5 loads plus 1. The plus one is the load that you have to do after you are done and these are the rugs that you used to dry the flooding that happened while washing. This was recommended by bestbuy since the original washer we bought is no longer available. Thinking this was better we accepted this. Things I noticed, too small amount of water in a cycle. I bought a bigger machine in order to put more clothes so lesser loads, but I will get some of my clothes still folded the way I placed it in the machine. My husbands handkerchief folded in four still folded and dirty. My scrub pants some area still dry after an entire cycle, thus I have to re do the entire cycle causing me to pay double electricity wise and not saving on water either. More to complain but good thing is that this kind of washer is no longer being produced. I hate for more people to experience the same nightmare am having with this product. I just hope that my insurance will cover whatever issue I have in the future. I have a home full of GE products, but am thinking of switching the next time I replace my appliances.

Very disappointed with this washer. The only way to get enough water to cover clothes is ton do an extra small load. Water does not get as hot as my old Maytag. Black and dark clothes need to be rinsed twice or you'll have soap residue. Sometimes soap dispenser does not dispense. Always watching over machine to make sure. Hoping I take breaks down so I can justify buying new machine. Does not clean well at all

This was the first time I bought a new washer and dryer in over 17 years. Wow! has technology changed. It is sooooo nice to be able to wash my comforter at home. The large capacity of these are awesome. There are so many great features it's hard to name them all. I love the auto-dispensing of the detergent and fabric softener. I also have these connected to my wifi and it is great to get a notification when the cycle is complete or nearing completion. And yes, clothes come out clean and dry.

I purchased this appliance about a month ago. I love the dispenser for detergent and softener. I actually have saved on these items as I tend to over pour. The washer is large whereby I can launder my rugs and pillows. It does a great job and love the LED lighting inside the tub. I would definitely recommend purchasing this washer.

LOVE this washer. Very large, very quite, Wi-Fi enabled so that when the built-in laundry soap reservoir runs low it orders its own detergent. Same goes for the built in fabric softener reservoir. Yes it dispenses its own soap/fabric softener so that you don't have to add it every time. I can't believe how much laundry I can fit into this washer. My previous washer was a large capacity. But I can get 3X the amount in this one. Further the washer texts me when it is done and then "texts" the matching dryer to tell it what type and how much laundry to expect and how to dry it.

I'm a little gun shy about this washer only because the first unit delivered did not work at all; that delivery crew isn't going to be recruited by NASA anytime soon. Customer service was great and we got it all straighten out without any hassle except for a few extra days without a washer. The washer performs as expected. It does "walk" a little if the load is not balanced. We love the detergent and fabric softener reservoirs and being able to customize how much is used at the start of a load of clothes. The laundry app and wifi is a nice convenience. Overall I'm impressed.

This is a great machine that washes clothes well and has tons of options. The smart dispense option leaves a lot to be desired however. It seems to work but the gauge that measures how much detergent is in the machine is not accurate. Its like driving 400 miles, looking down and your gas gauge is on FULL. You know something is off.

It must be working just fine since I'm the husband and have heard no complaints from the wife on 'her' new washing machine (yes, I do loads of wash also at times). The spin cycle removes so much more moisture than older machines did in the past. We see a reduction in drying times because of the effective washing machine spin cycle. Despite the huge drum, the washer has somewhat limited capacity if you want everything clean. Clothes just aren't able to move around much since there is no way to churn a large or heavy load, so you have to do smaller loads. The spin cycle is effective and clothes dry quickly which helps offset the very long wash cycles. Also wish I had the option of just doing a short rinse cycle. The shortest option is 40 minutes. Missing my front loader.

i bought this over other models because of the soap and fabric softener reservoirs. these did not work however, even though i used name brand products (tide and downy). because of this and a broken light switch, my dealer replaced the machine. the second machine i received is having similar problems in which soap doesn™™t dispense properly and level indicator lights don™™t work properly. as a result it will need new control panel. there is also no rinse and spin option on this machine. finally, if you don™™t want to use reservoirs for soap and fab soft, you have to do so by hand. this would mean interrupting the rinse cycle to add fab soft, which would be very inconvenient. otherwise, the machine is well designed ergonomically and does a good job washing clothers.
