I have had the washer less than 3 years I do about 4 loads weekly and it is now making a grinding sound when it washers and when it spins. It also is not cleaning the clothes .... consistently to little water. I wish I could still buy my old maytag atlantis...it lasted 18 years.

The worst machine E V E R !!!!!!

I bought this as a pair just two years ago. I absolutely love the steam dryer which is one of the best machines I've owned in 40 years. However, the washing machine is absolutely the worst. I went from 12 yo top loaders to the newest front loaders which did a fantastic job of washing and drying but I got really annoyed at dropping the clean clothes on the floor when transferring from the washer to the dryer. So I made the huge mistake of thinking that the agitatorless new top loaders were the answer. WRONG. I have to manually add between 5 and 7 gallons of water at the beginnning of the cycle during the sensing load phase to get enough water to actually COVER the clothes. Otherwise, half of the loads (and I don't over fill) remain ABOVE the measly water line. Full sections of sheets and towels never get wet and are completely dry upon the end of the cycle. Additionally the machine doesn't provide enough agitation to clean the clothes. At least in the lower fill front loaders the clothes are being tumbled through the water creating enough friction to clean stains. I hate this washer so much that I'm about to donate it to some other unsuspecting consumer via Habitat for Humanity. I find it amazing that there are any 5 star reviews when this machine deserves a big ZERO.

This has to be the worst washer I have ever owned. We are on our 2nd one in 2.5 years. After the techs hit being able to work on the first one, a brand new replacement was given. Less than a year later, the same symptoms occurring on new washer. Moldy/rubbery substance stuck to clothes after the wash cycle. After replacing parts that they said would cause this problem, it still occurred. I took the washer apart myself, and found that the wash tub cover, and the basket at the top and bottom, and inside of the wash basin were covered with mold. Removed all pieces and cleaned. Ran a basket clean cycle and still had moldy pieces in bottom of washer. Hopefully this goes away, or I will having to purchase a new washer and be out the money on this one. What a waste!!!

The lid does not close soft at all !! It slams !

The top lid doe snot close soft as GE advertise at all, it actually slams with loud noise. I called GE and they sent me a technician but he said that this is how they are built ! I was very disappointed about this and all other brands has this soft lid feature working softly with no issues.

We have only had our washer for a week or so and have been beyond impressed with it's peformance. Just make sure that you set the load setting correctly, pour the detergent in the designated compartment, and it does the rest for you!

This is a good looking washing machine, but it's the worst one I've ever owned. It is very loud and noisy. The dryer also makes noises. When I use bleach to wash whites, I can smell it through the whole house. Sometimes my clothes come out dirtier than when they went in. It seems to put lint back on the clothes in the wash. My clothes ALWAYS come out of the dryer wrinkled. This is my first and last GE washing machine.

Washer wraps clothes up in a sausage roll. If you wash dark clothes they come out with soap residue. I have to use "extra rinse" which still doesn't get the residue out. I think this is just a poor design.

It had been a while since we had bought a washer and my only regret is that we didn't have this one when all 3 of my children were younger. This is a great washer for a family-large or small. Amazing machine compared to my 13 year old model. Almost makes doing laundry fun. However, there is a strange sounding clicking/clacking sound when the drum is reversing directions, very loud, does not sound right. I'll be contacting customer service to investigate.

There are several features that I don't like. I don't know if it's because I'm used to the one I had previously for 9 yrs which was also a GE. The water saver feature, I've watched it wash an the water never coveres the clothes. Everytime I wash my sheets or towels with the setting it says to use it'll start banging because I think there's not enough water in it for them to move around. They stay all bunched up. The preset times for the loads are so long it takes forever to do laundry. It spins the water out so fast my clothes that are even on delicate and low spin come out so wrinkled I now have to iron everything. With my old one I liked it where I could fill it with water an my detergent pod along with the scent pod and they would dissolve before I put my clothes in. This is just a few but there are several more issues I have with it but I'm stuck with it now.

Attractive but Poor Quality

My husband purchased this washer in March of this year. I immediately noticed how "light" in was in weight. It seems very plastic to me. I understand streamlining and fine-tuning efficiency but at times this washer is very noisy. While spinning on "high" it can be EXTREMELY noisy so I've resorted to spinning no greater than "medium". The cycles are LONG...I don't know how efficient that is re: water and power. I'm not being negative, I am sharing my observances with this appliance. And by the way, the light doesn't go off each time the lid is closed. ???

I love this washer, it is so quiet and I can wash all my clothes at once, compared to my other washer. The only issue I have with it, is how it washes sheets/blankets. It does not seem to get all the dog hair off it which is a much needed factor in my life!

Went back and forth for a year, even returning the original washer and buying a new one to never have my issues resolved. The machine is loud and leaves white residue all over my clothes, I have to do 2 extra rinses to get my dark clothes clean.

Had this since February and it doesn't clean well and I already need to call and have a service person come out hear and untangle a sheet from the gears under the tub. The design is faulty because sheets can slip through basket and get wound around gears. I spent over $2000 for the set and want to cry because now I have a broken washer. So disappointed. I went w sears because I trusted them as a company. I'm so upset w this purchase.

Love where I bought it from, they recommented this one, I looked it up, read reviews, bought sight unseen. Loved how it looked and the features. Could not get over how large the drum is. But, I don't think it was meant to fill the drum completely up with clothes. I put a regular load in and it washed great. I later filled up the drum with clothes and it did not get them cleaned and the borax I put in did not wash out. I broke the load down and rewashed with the extra fill and it did fine. I love the light in the drum, how quiet it spins, there is some noise but nothing like my old washer. One draw back, I am 5 ft and it is quite a stretch to reach in and remove the clothes after a wash.

We've always used the traditional top load washer provided at our old apartment. My wife never complains but it's hard to stuff fluffy blankets and comforters with that agitator in the way. Large Load capacity with many options

The washer has performed well so far. The large capacity allows washing comforters, pillows, blankets, etc. We have had to manually reset it once, and have noticed on black polyester items that sometimes all the soap is not rinsed off, but now when we wash those items, we just add one extra rinse with the push of a button and everything comes out.

Beautiful machine. Small loads wash well. Love OXI cycle for bar towels. Doesn't allow for medium to large loads. Clothes don't wash properly and blacks end up with dirty lint on them. Not pleased that I cannot add water to tub for larger loads™€¦I need a larger loading washer (there are only two of us, so I'm not talking giant loads). Have trouble with one set of king sheets with three standard pillow cases. The machine should accommodate such a load.
