This dryer does everything well except after a couple of years use we are getting black streaks on our clothes.
I see a black residue on the top of the door but can™™t figure out where it is coming from.

I bought the dryer in May 2019 and it's Jan 2026. The control panel stopped working correctly in October 2025 after 6.5 years. The dryer stops mid cycle and starts beeping. The maintenance guy said it would probably cost over $500 for him to fix it. A new dryer is $600-700. I expect appliances to last at least 10 years. I don't expect to replace a major appliance every 5-6 years because a major component goes bad. That's too costly as they have gotten more expensive over the last few years. I am very disappointed especially since I am currently not working.

This dryer only works using the Time Dry Cycles, every other setting stops after just a few minutes and occasionally smells hot...plus the venting system never properly clears the lint from the collection area. It's literally been like this from day one.

Dryer is great! I love them multiple options, and the settings for heat. You can adjust the settings and do custom cycles as well, which helps if you have specific fabrics for clothing. I also love how they have a bulky setting, which helps with really big items. Noise is very quiet, and seems to be very energy efficient. Really large and can hold large loads at a time! Sometimes the cycle will stop on bulky items before they are dry, that is my only complaint.

We bought the original model a few years ago and have one ongoing annoying issue. We even had a technician tell us something needed to be tightened and nothing was wrong. The issue never went away. Anything with strings gets hooked up above the door inside the dryer, this then keeps spinning and spinning while hooked. Tied the clothes up and eventually snaps. I™™ve ruined countless items. The lint collector is also a very thin cheap and has been torn for most of its life. Just a poorly engineered dryer and not stood behind by its manufacturer.

Piece of junk. I™™ve had to fix it 5 times within a 6 month period. GE products are straight garbage now and are built very cheap. Samsung dryers are built way better and with actually logic like as simply putting a bearing inside a pulley wheel.

IT WAS WORKING AND I HEARD THIS RATTLING NOISE AND THEN THERE WAS THIS LOUD THUMP AND THEN IT STOPPED SPINNING, THE POWER WILL COME ON, THE CONTROL BOARD WORKS FOR ME TO SELECT MY SETTINGS BUT IT WILL NOT HEAT NOR SPIN. I enjoy my dryer set but this kind of has me bothered because I've literally had it for less than 4 years

This is the WORST dryer EVER! Within 4 years of ownership/use, of few of the buttons stopped working and as of today, the only thing that works is the selector knob (and I still cannot start or do anything else, only select the pre-manufactured cycles).

The dryer works great. I™™ve had mine for less than 4 years and the drum is decay/breaking where it meets the bearing top assembly. Clothes are being destroyed. 1k bucks and this should last longer than it has.

Dryer works well when it works, but we began having issues with the electronic interface not working so there was no way to make the dryer run on. This continued intermittently until this week when it completely died.

I have had this dryer for a few years now and EVERY time I dry something with drawstrings, they get caught in between the drum and the frame, thus twisting that garment until it it wrecked. I have to babysit this dryer on every use because of this and I am fed up. Does no one else have this issue? I thought I would purchase GE because of the quality and I have to say that the matching washer leaks, as well. I feel so unlucky with these purchases.

Dries well and I like the features, easy to use. However, I had to have the motherboard replaced last year (at 3 years old), and now the dryer is not responding again. Seems like a dryer should last longer than this!

Overall we have enjoyed this dryer and all the fancy options we have never had before. The steam refresh is great. The major issue is the wire moisture sensor inside the tumbling area of the dryer. It snags everything. Dryer sheets everytime, which is not a bg deal just annoying since they are not tumbling with the clothes once they get snagged. But it ruined an expensive mattress cover when it snagged and it shredded while being twisted and tumbled. Yesterday was the last straw. I washed my running shoes and put them in the dryer briefly to start to dry. The shoes got jammed I guess and the result was ruining my shoes. (see picture). I just looked to see if there was a recall because this seems so wrong, but no. Hopefully a redesign.....@GE -can we modify our dryer?

We had this unit 3 years and 3 months and it has stopped working. The technician did troubleshoot and stated the circuit board has gone bad. He said the part would cost ~$300 + labor cost. He wasn't sure that this would correct the issue. What a poor quality, GE was supposed to a quality brand but not this unreliable.

The drier works good when it wants to work. It sometimes takes me a few tries to get it to start. The power button is useless, it has never worked. The whole thing lights up when I turn the nob, and the settings change when you move the nob but the buttons don™™t work to change any settings. The light inside the drier lights up at random even when it™™s off. Sometimes I need to unplug it a couple times to get it to work.

John@GEA: Thanks for the reply, but the link you gave me refers more to clothes taking too long to dry. Thats not my problem. My problem is that the dryer shuts off after 3 minutes, because the moisture sensor does not work correctly. Its been this way since day one. The dryer is level and the load size doesnt matter - ive tried all sizes of loads. The vent is clean, and ive teied everyother thing you recommend. Its just a poorly designed moisture sensing system. Three trips by the repairman, replacing everything, and no change. I can see why this model is discontinued. Timed dry is the only cycle we can use because it bypasses the moisture sensor.

Dryer does not sense dryness, necessitating us to only use the timer cycle. All other cycles are useless. Repairman came 3 times in the 1st year, replaced everything, and it still doesnt work. He said its poorly designed. Do not buy a ge dryer with the dry sensor.

My husband and I built a house last year and the builder put in all GE appliances. I had trusted GE prior to this dryer, but the first dryer after moving in quit working within the first couple of loads. We went round and round with GE and the builder, both telling us it was the other one that needed to be contacted. Eventually GE sends out a service guy and he says the dryer requires a new motherboard, so he orders one and says he'll be back in a couple of weeks. Well about two weeks later, a GE delivery truck delivers a replacement dryer and takes away the old. So initially I'm happy, well a little over a year later the dryer quits working AGAIN! A GE repair man comes out and says we need a new door switch. I order it, and replaced it... still not working. In the last 15 months, we have been without a dryer no less than 3 months which is appalling considering this is supposed to be a new product. Won't be buying a new GE dryer to replace this thing...

I like all the different settings and I love the wifi feature because I hate when I forget to get the clothes out of the dryer and they just sit and wrinkle. This alerts my phone, so even when I am at the other side of the house, I know when it gets finished!

We have the washer and dryer, both are awful. They came with our new construction home and our entire neighborhood complains about them. The washing machine jumps across the floor regardless of the load, the dryer has had the barrel replaced once already and it does not do a good job drying our clothes.

My washer and dry keeps disconnecting. I'm not sure what all the app functionality all includes because it won't connect. It's really hard to get the lent out of the catcher slot holder. Also a random dent somehow appeared on the top front portion of the dryer. Was hoping the dryer was a little more durable.
