Crappy machine from a crappy company. GE used to be good. This machine is only six years old, and fell apart. It cost a fortune in the first place. We replaced the pump and shocks, which did nothing. We're told the tub is leaking, and that it's too expensive to fix so we should get a new one. I guess that's the way GE does business--make subpar products then have you replace them every few years. We also had a GE dishwasher that fell apart after six years.

We have been using this unit for about 3 years. Within the first year the drum became detached from the back of the machine & caused it to smell like burning rubber. That was under the 1 year warranty so it was fixed and we moved on. Recently I had trouble closing the door when I noticed a hard, heavy part had fallen into the tub gasket- the cement block to balance the top of the machine is attached to the top of the drum. with plastic- that shimmied forward and broke the drum along with it. Nothing covered under 10 year warranty despite clearly a manufacturer defect. My initial repair person said he has never seen anything like this is 20 years. GE gave me 50% off the parts so we replaced the drum & were told this should not happen again. 4 weeks later, all of a sudden, loud noises and the cement balance block has shimmied forward into my gasket once again!! Very disappointing. Awaiting a service call this week but from the sound of it I do not expect much from GE.

Have this machine for 6 yrs for family of 3, its been making loud noise's for months on spin cycle. Reading the reviews left prior to mine I believe its the bearings. It sounds like rocks in the inside of the machine when it spins and with a burning smell. Not spending extra money to fix it. No more GE, they need to recall this washer.

Dishwasher has served as well for six years. The control board just went out, and the price that we were quoted for Was more than 70% of the cost of replacement. The 10 year warranty only applies to the motor. I don™™t find this to be a good value.

We have had this washer for 4 years. The first year it needed to be repaired twice due to computer board issues. Now the rear basket support broke and repairing it costs more than the washer. I've had a few washers in my life and never have I had so much trouble with any of them. This machine is terrible.

Washer is only a few years old and suddenly stopped working. Tech came out and said control panel had to be replaced. After more than a week, Tech came back and now says in addition circuit panel needs to be replaced so still no working machine. Very, very dissatisfied as expected GE appliance with 10 year warranty to last and not have these major parts need replacement in such a short time period.

I had no problems at all with this machine and then without warning it died. At only 4 and a half years old it is dead. They tried replacing the first computer board for just under $400 and now they are saying it could be the second board which will be a little over $400 to replace. I can't see spending $800+ repairing a washer, but then also I can't see trashing a 4 and a half year old machine. I don't know what I'm going to do.

Product was great in the beginning. Not sure if it was leveled correctly when installed, but now there are balance issues 5 years later, possibly a bearing issue - not sure yet. Also, spin cycle is not finishing, probably due to the off balance?

This is pretty upsetting! Im retired on SS and purchased this set 2 1/2 years ago and only to be told it was going to cost me more to fix it than purchase a new one. I live on a fixed income. Thinking this would last me for years to come than this happens in 2 1/2 years. No I can™™t purchase all these extended warranties they keep sending me, i purchased a fridge, induction oven (only to be sold the one off the floor which had a chip in the top and being told he ordered a new one). That of course wasn™™t covered by the warranty! The owner of the store slid this by without us being informed And of course he denied it was broken only to be told by the repair guy that it was the on the floor that has been chipped! I also purchased a dishwasher and microwave. All GE products and the washer and dryer. The washes bearing are shot and was told its cheaper to replace. Im sure that was the set that was on the floor as a model also so more than likely it had problems before I got it. I purchased all new equipment so When I retired I wouldn™™t have to worry. We first bought this GE front loader several years ago and it worked fine for a while and then broke down. GE repair person comes out and determines that the cost of repair will be slightly less than replacing the unit, so we order a new unit. It has been about 2 years since we got the new unit and it has again broken down. I can see one unit maybe being bad, but going through 2 washers in about 6 years? I highly recommend avoiding this washer.

This is my second GE washer of the same model. Top of the line at the time. After 4 years of moderate use the same problem. The bearing in the washer controlling the spin is failing. It is the exact problem as the previous washer it replaced. Has to be a design problem. This is the second washer I have had, but not by choice. The first Washer I purchased at a great sum for a front-end washer only to have it go out after 1 1/2 years and then be told it was out of Warranty unless I purchased an Extended Warranty. However, since the Washer could not be diagnosed correctly without going through great cost to myself, GE provided a second Washer, upgraded for a greatly reduced price which I found to be somewhat acceptable being naÃ¯ve as I was with GE products. Well after three years, the Washer has gone again and although the product has a sticker affirmed to it stating there is a 10 year Warranty and the website states that the Washer parts are covered for 10 years, the Representative states that the store stuck that on the Washer not GE. I am hard pressed to believe that Lowes would do anything of the sort, especially since the website substantiates the parts being covered. I wish I checked the reviews before I purchased a $1,000.00 Washer and ended up putting in another $600.00 for a new Washer only to find out that after $1,600.00 a GE Washer will only last less than 3 years or collectively less than 5 years. Buyers beware I guess. No more GE products for me in the future, they do not stand behind their products or apparently even their Warranties.

Broke in 3 years

The washer was pretty terrible during the three years I owned it. The clothes themselves sometimes were clean, other times they weren™™t. We constantly had issues with it. I will say GE customer service was fantastic. Very easy to get a hold of and usually scheduled you in a reasonable amount of time. Do not and I mean do not use pods in this machine. It does not use enough water to disintegrate the entire pod. We had to run clothes and towels through again to get the entire pod off. The cycles also ran extremely long. An hour thirty cycle meant 2 hours or more. The washer is extremely loud. So if your washer and dryer are on the second floor, avoid this model. The spin cycle on the towel setting also never worked correctly. For some reason the towels came out soaked 70% of the time. I bought an LG to replace this. Since I had so many issues, I probably won™™t buy another GE washer as I had two in a row, first one last 4 years. This one 3. Not worth the price tag in my opinion.

Purchased in 2018. Now it is not spinning at all. I spoke to an appliance repair person I know and he thought it sounded like the bearings needed to be replaced. He figured I could purchase a new machine for less than repairs. What good is a 10-year warrantee if these parts aren't covered? That chrome "10" looks really nice on the front of the machine and gave us some reassurance when purchasing this machine. So sad that it doesn't seem to mean anything. I have GE for all of my appliances in my kitchen. We purchased these together during a remodel and spent a LOT. 3 years seems to be the life span of these. That is not acceptable.

We purchased this washer along with other GE appliances through the home developer of our townhouse almost 3 years ago. As of last weekend, the washer creates a loud rattling noise and shakes heavily during the spin cycle. I had an appliance repair service come over for diagnosis and i was informed that the ball bearing inside the drum broke. The cost of parts and labor to dismantle the drum, replace the part and reassembly was about $300 shy of the retail price - not worth repairing it. It™™s disappointing to find out that homes in our community have mostly GE appliances as offered by the home developer and residents are experiencing various problems and failures.

Broke after 28 months

We purchased this product along with the matching dryer less than 3 years ago. For a while now the detergent dispenser has had some issues not draining all of the fluids and spilling on the floor from time to time. About a month ago I noticed it starting to make some excessive noise. Now it sounds like an a airplane about to take off when it is in use. The GE service tech came to our house and without even looking at the internals announced that the repair costs would be $1200! I am beyond frustrated with this unit not lasting any longer than it did. Now i am faced with replacing the unit after a short time and due to the "right height" feature it appears that the replacement unit wont line up with the matching dryer. After having GE appliance exclusively for 20 years now i am very disappointed with this product.

This washer started out so great - I love the look, height, features, and it did a great job with our laundry....until it didn't. After less than 5 years, the washer began to make a loud noise during the spin cycle and would shake violently at lower spin speeds. I scheduled a service with GE and paid $118(!) for a technician to come look at it. I was told the bearings were going bad. The parts and labor to fix the machine were going to be close to $1,400. I'm so incredibly disappointed in this development - not only for the washer to be in need of repairs already, but at the outrageous cost to do so. Looking at many of the recent reviews with exactly the same problem, GE should seriously consider doing right by its customers and providing a warranty extension that covers this issue.

I truly loved this washer when it first arrived. It felt solid and well built and did a great job on my laundry. However, when it hit the spin cycle, it sounded like a jet plane taking off. Still, it did a great job - until the warranty expired. At 26 months, it failed making a horrendous noise when the drum turned clockwise and leaking water. After pulling covers off and inspecting it, the repairman essentially determined it would be more cost effective to replace. This was a $1,300 washing washing machine that lasted only 26 months. I'm beyond frustrated. I would NOT recommend this machine

This machine is less than 2 years old and has three issues: shaking, won't drain and loud noise. I called and got service scheduled. Because the machine is less than two years old, I spoke with customer relations--Nightmare! They agreed to waive the diagnostic fee and parts because of the age of the machine but never put that in the notes. I called back after scheduling service and learning that they didn't document the original offer in my file. I held on for 1:45 minutes and finally hung up. Called again and held on for another hour, still never got to speak with anyone. Finally, emailed customer service with this saga and they responded but it took lots of back and forth. The service tech came yesterday and machine still isn't fixed. He knew nothing about the loud noise, which I learned is the bearings. All of this was documented in my email to customer service. I read it to him so I have proof that I told them about all of the problems prior to his arrival. He told me parts are on backorder until JANUARY 7 and that I could get a service appt. 10 days after. That is unacceptable and impractical. I was assigned a case number and given the GE phone number which is useless. No one has called me yet. DO NOT BUY GE.

I still had to take my clothes to a laundry mat for 2 months (which cost a fortune and was a huge inconvenien) before I got a replacement. I just got my front loading washing machine yesterday and I have done 4 loads of clothes so far. It is quiet and the capacity is great. I have washed a bedspread by itself and there was enough room for another. This is my second front loader machine and I really love them. I live in the country and my water source is a well so I don't have to worry about using the machine when we are in a drought situation since it doesn't use that much water.

I purchased this washer and a year and half later it gets stuck at 17 minutes left and goes on for hours and hours until I push the power button to turn it off. My laundry is soaking wet and is forcing my dryer to work harder than ever to try and dry everything from this faulty washer. We paid way to much for something that is less than subpar! Don't purchase this washer if you're looking for a quality, sustainable product that will last for years.

The machine is new as a replacement of the original which required several service calls before it completely fell apart. It™™s horrible Too many issues to name them all. Horrible !

I have been searching the house for more things to launder. I love my new washer. The only bad feature I have found was the done alarm is not loud enough. Other than that I love, love, love it.
