This is the worst machine ever! Broke after 5 years and the tech said they can™€™t get parts to fix it. The weight on the drum broke off and looks like it was attached to a plastic part. In researching, I found this model isn™€™t being manufactured anymore. GE rep wasn™€™t very helpful and said I could buy the newer model and have confidence it would last longer than 5 years. Wow really!?! What a waste of $1300! Save your money and buy an LG.

Worst than Scammers

I usually don't review products, but if this is going to save someone/ anyone, then it is worth leaving a review. I have had this unit for less than 5years, the washer traps moisture and makes your cloths smell moldy after a while. About a month ago, my washer started sounding like a plane about to explode. it seemed like there were rocks inside the washer. I reached Out to GE about the issue and they told me the 10Years warranty was for the motto and not the Drum. I told them it was not a cosmetic damage and it was a manufacturers defect and asked if they could come fix it or replace the machine. They sent out a representative, and the guy told us that it was going to cost us more in repairs than buying a new unit, he also stated that most customers with the same unit have been complaining of the same issue and that they had discontinued production of that unit. He recommended a couple of washers from GE which made me wonder if this was not a plot from GE to rip off from the customers/consumers. I have called the customer Service number and they asked me if I had extended warranty. Please if you can stay away from GE products, do. they don't last. I have also fixed my microwave which is a GE brand 3 times, my stove burner rings have been changed 2 times and they are recommending we change the whole glass top cooker. we bought our house 4 years ago and decided to go with GE products. That was the worst Idea ever. the only consistent electrical thing that has not broken down so far in my house is my LG refrigerator. Any GE product I have has seen a technician and guess what, every time they come out to my house to check something we pay more than $300 for diagnosis. If this is not a rip off, then I don't know what it is. Please read reviews before buying any of their products, we did not do that and we are paying heavily for it. A WORD TO THE WISE IS SUFFICIENT

I LOVED this washer until I didn't. The drum bearing has gone out after 4 years, 2 weeks after the warranty expired. Two weeks! Cost to repair? 1700.00! GE will be getting a call from me on Monday to Customer Service. It's a good thing they aren't making this model any longer, according to the reviews. My late-husband had an over 40 year career there, so I know the ropes a bit. Wish me luck!

Rear bearings failed after four years

I have had GE products for many years. Unfortunately the washer failed after four years. The water seal in the back of the drum failed allowing water to seize the rear bearing. The cost of repair was excessive so I very disappointed.

Broken Outer Tub

After reading through other reviews it seems like the plastic breaking around the tub is pretty common. As others stated, our washer has always been noisy so I never thought something was wrong until I heard what I now know is huge chunks of plastic flying around hitting the edge of our washer, causing it to leak substantially. We never overload the washer, so I am not sure if there was another root cause or if this plastic inside is just cheaply made. Very disappointing to have to replace right at Christmas time.

Catastrophic Failure at Three Years

Performance was okay, but the spin cycle was always INSANELY loud -- like jet-engine loud. It always woke everyone up if we tried to do laundry at night. Three years in, and suddenly we had water gushing out the bottom. Service call (at our expense): It turns out that one of the counterweights broke loose and demolished the plastic tub that surrounds the drum. The cost of repair is more than buying a whole new unit. We realize now that something was always wrong with the counterweight, but we figured it was just a very loud machine, since we've read other complaints about the noise of this unit. We wish we'd had it serviced earlier, but we assumed that "too noisy" is generally not a problem that manufacturers are willing to cover under warranty. Now we may be too late. We were told by our appliance saleman that the "10-year warranty" only covers the motor. It would be wonderful if GE came through for us with a repair after all ...

This washer is fantastic and coupled with the same model Dryer the combo is unbeatable. It washes very clean, is efficient and has modes that you probably wouldn't use in your lifetime. It has a great Extra Hot mode in Normal mode that is great for ensuring that you get the most out of your Normal washes. I don't use it every time, but every once in awhile it is necessary. There is also a Sanitize mode, but it takes too much time for the cycle, so don't use that cycle very much. We have had two sets of these same washer/dryer combos in the past and have always sold them when the house sold because the buyers loved them so much. Can't beat this combo

We are on our 2nd washer just like this. First one was replaced by American Home Shield because unit "could not be fixed." Our second one, within 8 months started doing the same thing. I've had a tech come out twice; replace parts; and am still having the same issue. Washer will NOT spin after the clothes have been washed. It tries and tries. It will show 17 minutes left for upwards of almost 2 hours; until it gives up and starts flashing. Then I have to start a rinse cycle for it to try again. A tech is scheduled for a third time to come out. So... my wife or I will have to ask off of work... again... for them to take a look at it. Then my wife or i will have to take off of work.... again... for the tech to come back out and install the parts after they have been delivered..

We are so pleased with our decision to purchase this product. The red color is lovely to look at, but the capacity is wonderful! Runs like a dream (so far). Lots of options for various loads, etc. Have not tried the steam function yet. Clothes come out clean and not all tangled up. Moisture content of clothing at end of cycle is fine. Even towels! Was skeptical to purchase a front-loader, but am pleased to have overcome my reserves.

First load moving into new house floods floor. I™€™m hoping I did not make a mistake and this is the only thing that goes wrong with this product! We have it delivered and installed into our brand new house and unpacking everything I needed to do many loads of laundry but unfortunately there was a rubber hose that was inside Washer from factory split at the seam and upon rinsing flooded my entire brand new hard wood floor of the laundry room!! Needless to say I have to spend a day at a laundromat and I only have a weekend to get everything done so The fact it came defective from the factory really wasted and caused a lot of time management problems with moving from one state to another !! We are not a happy customer right now. Thanks for the appliance store we bought it from are very good people they came right out they diagnosed what happened and now they™€™re waiting for the factory to send a new part. So I have not even gotten through one load with this washer and it™€™s already been repaired so basically I bought a used washer !

Machine is taking three plus hours to run a normal cycle. Even a "quick" cycle is taking 90 minutes. The rinse cycle continues to repeat itself and clothes come out soaking wet. GE service has not been able to fix the machine.

Never buying another GE washing machine

Purchased the 4.8 energy star model 4 years ago. After one year the control board went out and needed to be replaced. In early March the washer paused continuously during the cycle causing the machine to stop and the clothes to be soaking wet. Technician came out and could not find anything wrong with it. Next day it happened again. Technician ordered 8 parts, changed all 8 parts and two hours later the machine still continued to pause and not complete a cycle. GE said it could be fixed. Another part was ordered and here it is April 20th and the part still hasn't come and the technician was scheduled for this morning. According to GE the part that was on back order and in the warehouse prior to my vacation still has not been shipped. I have been inconvenienced far too long. Give me one reason to purchase another GE machine???

Our family of 3 adults (2 of whom work in Emergency Medical Services & wear uniforms that must be sanitized after every shift) & 4 kids (ages 7,6,5 years-old & 15 months) had us overwhelmed with laundry! I previously owned another brand washer/dryer with separate pedestals on Pergo wood floor in another home. Vibration was incredible because of the floor, but pool noodles wedged inbetween was the solution. These do not need noodles and are installed in a double wide modular home. They are quiet and very stable. Built-in pedestal design elevation is a plus. The wash and dry cycles are much quicker than I expected. Very satisfied with them.

I purchased my washer 2 1/2 years ago, it's been broken for a month with a repair guy that doesn't understand how to fix it. I will stay clear of GE products in the future. I spent good money on this and it should not have gone down this quickly. Apparently there happens to also not be a GE representative/repair in San Diego which would have been the person to fix my washer. It's not like i live in a wooded area.
